Enrique Ledesma grew up working and 
learning in his father's jewelry shop in 
Mexico City. He studied painting and 
sculpture at the San Carlos Academy 
of Art. He apprenticed and worked at 
some important silver shops such as 
those of William Spratling, Hector 
Aguilar and Los Castillo.

In 1950 he opened his own shop, 
Plateria Ledesma, in Taxco.
He died in 1979.

He is well known for simple, elegant, 
modernist designs that achieve a 
flawless marriage of silver and stone, 
making the two mediums appear as one.

A hand carved "J. PINAL" signature on the side of the base.
A circular stamped mark impressed into the wood on the bottom
of the base, "Made in Mexico", with artist's "JP"cipher in center.
